2020 Chevrolet Bolt: More range means more good times

Back in 2017, Chevrolet jolted the diminutive electric car segment with the launch of the Chevrolet Bolt. Almost out of nowhere came a compact 5-door hatchback with appealing styling, impressive utility and a massive 383 km of 100% electric range. What’s more, the Bolt was affordable given its impressive packaging and capabilities.

The competition worked hard in an attempt to catch up with the Bolt but for 2020, Chevy is at it again. The new 2020 Chevrolet Bolt now offers even more range and improved technologies. The Bolt EV's advanced 66-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack now enables the car to travel up to 415 km, once more sitting at the very top of the competition when it comes to worry-free electric motoring. What’s more, with its DC Fast Charging system, the battery can be charged up to 160 km of range in 30 minutes.

The 2020 Chevrolet Bolt retains the services of the 150-kW electric motor that sits on the front axle. If anyone’s ever said that EVs are slow or boring, they’ve certainly never driven a Bolt. With 200-horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque on tap, the Bolt fires to 100 km/h in just over 6.5 seconds.

Driving the Bolt is not only about performance, but it’s also about efficiency, and in a fun way. The car allows for One Pedal Driving which, as the name suggests, lets you speed up and slow down using only the accelerator pedal. As well, the Regen On Demand paddle on the steering increases the braking power all the while storing energy.

The 2020 Chevrolet Bolt is not only about the drive. The base “LS” gets a standard 10.2-inch touchscreen display with an embedded Chevrolet infotainment system - the Bolt is nothing less than an electric hangout. More proof? It has a built-in Wi-Fi Hotspot and there’s even an optional Infotainment Package on the Premier trim that and includes a Bose premium 7-speaker audio system with subwoofer, wireless device charging and two USB ports in the rear.

One of the great advantages to the Bolt is its vast cabin. With seating for up to five occupants and a large trunk capable of handling 479 litres of gear, the Chevy Bolt is not some compromised econobox. You can always go the distance in your Bolt and enjoy the experience with your best friends.
