2020 Chevrolet Blazer vs Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport

Of the many advantages to SUVs is their flexibility. Not only can they haul and carry everything, they also happen to be a large canvas on which designers can work on. It had been a while since a true “sport” utility vehicle had hit the road but now, there are a few to select from. The new 2020 Chevrolet Blazer and Volkswagen Atlas Sport Cross are two such examples.

For most, purchasing a new midsize SUV is a decision based on needs such as space, versatility, safety and efficiency. These priorities have spawned a segment full of SUVs that are little more than tools to get the family from one point to another. That all changed when Chevrolet introduced the attitude-packed Blazer. And now, Volkswagen’s joined the boldly-designed challenge. Let’s compare the two SUVs.

Pride of ownership is, as always, high on SUV buyers’ wish lists. Driving an attractively styled vehicle can change the ownership experience completely. At Chevrolet, inspiration for the new Blazer comes from the Camaro which has affected the whole of the SUV’s design, and outlook. The final product is unmistakingly sporty, especially in RS form. As for the Atlas Sport Cross, its origins may be humbler but its large imposing grille does turn heads too.

Powering the two SUVs are a variety of engines. The new 2020 Chevy Blazer provides for those who want styling and space in a value-packed package. The base 193-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder delivers efficient motoring but those interesting in more can opt for the 230-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Alternatively, the 305-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 delivers maximum performance to go with the styling. All three mills are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is offered with either a 235-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder or a 276-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels.

In design and powertrains option, the Chevrolet Blazer has more to offer, and this is only the beginning. Standard features include an 8-inch touchscreen display, a 4.2-inch driver information display, remote-starter, dual-zone climate controls, a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot and so much more. This bests the Atlas Cross Sport’s included features in the entry-level model.

The new 2020 Chevrolet Blazer is a leader in every respect. Come and see it for yourself.
